Silvaner Kalb, Hans Wirsching

White wine from Franconia. Hans Wirsching is a king with wines from the Silvaner grape. This 1st Lage Kalb - premier cru - is very tasty. Fresh creamy with light fruit of pear and apple, nicely dry, some elderberry and citrus. Juicy and smooth. Bottle is empty in no time! Hans Wirsching is a member of the VDP and the family has been making wine in Iphofen in Franconia for 14 generations. The Bocksbeutel is the name of the bottle, typical for the wine region of Franconia in Germany.

Taste
Delicious wine from the Scheurebe grape. Drifting aroma of grapefruit, peach and citrus. Also elderberry in the taste. Soft and supple, goes down well. Serve: 11 °C. Drink: now until 2021.

Fish, salads with fruit, chicken, niçoise or ceasar salad, quiches and slightly spicy Asian dishes.

Interesting
Scheurebe is a cross between Riesling and Silvaner. Developed in 1916 by researcher and winegrower Georg Scheu to get a 'better' Silvaner. In Austria it is called Sämling 88 (seedling 88).
