Spätburgunder Ahrweiler Rosenthal GG, Bertram-Baltes . Dry red wine from the Ahr by Julia Bertram and Benedikt Baltes. This German wine is one of the most beautiful Ahr wines currently available.

Rosenthal is a GG vineyard north of the town of Ahrweiler. GG stands for Grosses Gewächs or Grand Cru. Sunny location facing south and medium steep. This wine is firmer and fuller than for example the Dernauer Spätburgunder from Bertram-Baltes. Yet the alcohol percentage is only 11.5%.

Spätburgunder Ahrweiler Rosent ha l , very nice red wine from Julia Bertram and her husband Benedikt Baltes. This German wine comes from the small, northern wine region of the Ahr. Despite its northern location, the Ahr is mainly known for red wines.

This red wine stands out with generous forest fruit, currants and spiciness. The tannins are beautifully soft. One of the most beautiful wines of the Ahr according to many. The Bertram-Baltes winery has been completely converted to organic viticulture since 2020.

Taste
Great wine from Bertram-Baltes. Full, deep, rich but also fresh. Forest fruit, mushrooms, spicy, mineral, light wood tone, top balance, fine acids and crumbly tannins. Great wine from Grand Cru vineyard (Grosses Gewächs or GG).

Delicious with
Chateaubriand, diamond fillet, red game, poultry, spicy vegetable dishes.

Interesting
The Lage Rosenthal is located near Ahrweiler and is facing south. The soil contains Grauwacke (mineral-rich, weathered sandstone) in the east, loam in the northern upper part and loess in the west. Furthermore, you will find loess clay and slate everywhere. This wine comes from the eastern part, so with Grauwacke and a sub-layer of slate.
