Riesling, empress among wine grapes
Riesling is considered by many connoisseurs to be the most beautiful wine grape in the world. Why? Because this grape variety produces such a wide variety of wines. From crisp and fresh to sparkling and sultry and sweet. But always with remarkable acidity.
At the beginning of the 20th century, German Rieslings were the most expensive wines on earth , more expensive than Bordeaux or Burgundy. In Europe, Germany remains the most important country, followed by Austria and France (Alsace). It is also found in northern Spain and Australia, for example.
Terroir wine
Riesling ripens late and prefers a cool climate. It's also a grape that perfectly reflects its terroir . Terroir isn't just the soil but the entire interplay of (micro)climate, exposure/location of the vineyards, planting density, slope, sunshine, temperature, etc.
