Spätburgunder Forstberg Erste Lage, Bertram-Baltes, Ahr . Dry red wine from wine talents Julia Bertram and her husband Benedikt Baltes. It combines coolness with delicate floral notes and fine forest fruits. Redcurrants, strawberries, and also dark fruits like cherries and blackcurrants. Light spicy notes, a hint of smoke, and some wood.
Juicy, ripe, and minerally, tannins provide backbone and bite, while acidity balances all the layers. A complex wine with a long finish. A Spätburgunder (Pinot Noir) from the Ahr region, classified as Premier Cru .

Spätburgunder Forstberg Erste Lage, Ahr
The Lage Ahrweiler Forstberg lies between the villages of Ahrweiler and Bad Neuenahr, on the north side of the Ahr River. The vineyards are situated higher up on the slopes, facing south. Adjacent to it is the equally renowned Lage Rosenthal, where Bertram-Baltes also produces wine.
The Forstberg vineyard has a soil of slate (from the Devonian period) with sandstone and loam (Grauwacke). The Spätburgunder vines are now over 40 years old and from an Ahr clone known locally as "Stuber," planted by Julia Bertram's grandfather.
Uncleared, unfiltered
Spontaneous fermentation and maturation take place in large, old German oak casks (foeders), 50% of which are new. After 15 months in oak, the wine rests for another 3 months in stainless steel. Like all Bertram-Baltes wines, the wine is bottled unfined and unfiltered . Bertram-Baltes has been a certified organic winery since the 2019 harvest.
