Winemaker FX Barc of Complices de Loire, France

Winemaker François-Xavier Barc of Complices de Loire learned the trade from two legends: the famous Loire winemaker Nicolas Joly (biodynamic pioneer) and Charles Joguet, once one of the very best winemakers in Chinon. You can see that experience reflected in his organic, pure wines from Touraine.

Loire wines with class and character

Complices de Loire produces a beautiful range of Loire classics:

  • Sauvignon blanc — fresh, clean, recognizable grapefruit and boxwood. Ideal house wine.
  • Chenin blanc Vouvray Silex — dry, pure, mineral, rated 8.5 by Hamersma. Partly aged in amphorae.
  • Chinon — elegant Cabernet franc, juicy red fruit with typical bell pepper notes. 12 months in stainless steel.
  • Malbec (Côt) — a finer, fresher style than the Argentine version, full of blackberries and cherries with a hint of chocolate.

The Loire: France's longest river

The Loire flows from the Ardèche via Sancerre, Touraine, and Anjou to the Atlantic Ocean near Nantes. Touraine is the heart — this is where Sauvignon blanc, Chenin blanc, and Cabernet franc grow at their best.
