Domaine Burrier, Beaujolais & Mâconnais, France
Beaujolais & Mâconnais: two regions, one domain
Domaine Burrier is located on the border of Beaujolais and the Mâconnais — two adjacent regions in Southern Burgundy that together provide a complete picture of what this part of France has to offer. The Mâconnais lies directly above Beaujolais and is the home of Burgundian Chardonnay on limestone soils.
Gamay on granite
In Beaujolais, Domaine Burrier works exclusively with Gamay, the region's indigenous grape variety. On the granitic soils of the crus, Gamay produces wines of great elegance: fresh red fruit, floral notes, fine tannins, and vibrant acidity. A far cry from the light image of Beaujolais Nouveau.
Chardonnay from the Mâconnais
In the Mâconnais, Domaine Burrier produces white wines from Chardonnay under the Chateau de Beauregard label, grown on the region's typical limestone soils. These wines are fresh and mineral-driven with ripe white fruit — a classic Burgundian style without the price tags of the Côte de Beaune.
