Condado de Huelva: sherry's forgotten neighbor

Garay is located in Condado de Huelva, a DO in western Andalusia, bordering the famous sherry region of Jerez. While Jerez gets all the attention, Condado de Huelva produces still and fortified wines of great individuality — on albariza-like soils and with a maritime climate influenced by the Atlantic Ocean.

Zalema and indigenous varieties

Garay works with Zalema, the indigenous white variety of Condado de Huelva, and other local varieties. Zalema produces fresh, aromatic white wines that reflect the region's Atlantic influence — very different from the heavy styles one expects from Andalusia.

Discovery of a forgotten region

Garay is an ambassador for Condado de Huelva — a region that deserves its own identity, out of the shadow of Jerez. View all wines from Garay →
