He makes exceptionally beautiful biodynamic wines. Zillinger is based in the village of Ebenthal, right on the border with Slovakia. The vineyards belong to the large wine region of Niederösterreich, the so-called Weinviertel — an area mostly known for bulk wine. But there are winemakers like Zillinger who rank among the very best in Austria (and the world).

Zillinger works with extreme discipline — both in the vineyard and in the cellar. Although he always comes across as completely relaxed, he is a true über-nerd when it comes to wine. His wines can already be placed in the heavenly category. Top wine writers such as Jancis Robinson MW and Jens Priewe sing his praises generously.
