Pascona, Montsant, Spain

Montsant: in the shadow of Priorat
Pascona is located in Montsant, a DO that surrounds the famous Priorat region in Catalonia. Montsant shares much of Priorat's character — granite and slate soils (llicorella), old vines, and a rugged mountain climate — but offers wines of comparable quality at a fairer price.
Old-vine Garnacha and Carinyena
Pascona works primarily with Garnacha and Carinyena from old vines on the stony soils of Montsant. The wines are powerful and mineral, with ripe red and dark fruit, spices, and a long, dry finish that reflects the mountain terroir.
Organic and artisanal
Pascona manages its vineyards organically and vinifies with minimal intervention — respect for the terroir as a starting point.
