Quinta de Linhares, Vinho Verde, Portugal
Vinho Verde from old vines
Quinta de Linhares is located in the Vinho Verde region in northwestern Portugal. The quinta works with old vines of indigenous varieties on granite soils — the classic terroir of the Minho region. Within Vinho Verde there are several sub-regions; Quinta de Linhares falls under Sousa.
More than just crisp acidity
Vinho Verde has an image of being a light, crisp, and inexpensive wine — but Quinta de Linhares shows that the region has much more to offer. Old vines, low yields, and serious vinification result in wines with depth, minerality, and a complexity that far exceeds the average Vinho Verde profile.
Vinho Verde is the name of the wine, but it is actually the name of the wine region!
Indigenous varieties of the Minho
