Terra Nostra, Corsican Winemakers - UVAL, Corsica
Vignerons Corsicans — UVAL is a cooperative of Corsican winemakers based in Borgo, in the northeast of the island. This house includes two lines that we carry: Terra Nostra and Umanu.
Terra Nostra
Terra Nostra is the accessible line: honest, characterful Corsican wines made from indigenous grapes. The red Niellucciu — related to Sangiovese — provides a spicy, meaty character with ripe forest fruit. The white Vermentinu is fresh, citrusy, jasmine-scented, round, and low in alcohol (11.5%).
Umanu
Umanu is the premium line. The Umanu Blanc is an original blend of Vermentinu and the rare local hero Bianco Gentile. Lively, vibrant, smooth — and very well-priced for the quality.
The UVAL vineyards are located at higher altitudes than most on the island, which provides extra freshness and minerality in the wines.
