Viñas del Cámbrico, Sierra de Francia, Spain
Sierra de Francia: the forgotten mountains of Salamanca
Viñas del Cámbrico is based in the Sierra de Francia, a mountainous region in the province of Salamanca in western Castile and León. The vineyards are situated at an altitude of 700 to 1,000 metres on granite soils — an extreme location that produces wines of great minerality and freshness.
Rufete: the Sierra's forgotten grape variety
Viñas del Cámbrico specialises in Rufete, a virtually extinct indigenous variety that survives exclusively in this remote mountain region. Rufete is light-coloured, elegant and spicy — with a finesse that is reminiscent of cool-climate varieties like Pinot Noir or Trousseau, but with a distinctively Spanish minerality.
Pioneer and preserver
Viñas del Cámbrico is one of the few producers keeping the tradition of Rufete alive — organically, with old vines and minimal intervention. View all wines from Viñas del Cámbrico →
