Vins La Botera, Terra Alta, Spain
Vins La Botera is an ambitious winery from the DO Terra Alta, a mountainous wine region south of Barcelona, close to the well-known Priorat. Terra Alta literally means ‘high land’ and is known as the cradle of white Grenache (Garnacha blanca / Garnatxa blanca). The hot, dry climate and limestone soils on high plateaus up to 500 meters give the wines here a distinct power and minerality.
From tradition to innovation
Five families started in 1986. The second generation of winemakers took a major step forward in 2017 — with a brand-new four-story winery and the latest technology — without letting go of the founders' passion. Goal: superior affordable quality.
Garnatxa Blanca: the star of Terra Alta
Vins La Botera practices organic farming with Garnatxa Blanca (Grenache Blanc) as its core variety — a grape that has traditionally made its home in Terra Alta and produces wines of great ripeness, texture, and minerality on the limestone soils. In addition to Garnatxa Blanca, they also grow red Garnacha and Syrah.
