Patrimonio Grotte di Sole. Captivating, earthy, great red wine. A true experience.
This red French wine comes from the extremely fascinating wine island of Corsica. In other words, the Île de Beauté, the island of beauty. Not only is this a beautiful island indeed, the wines are also of great beauty. Both red, rosé and white.
Jean-Baptiste Arena makes this red wine called Grotte di Sole from their oldest vines Niellucciu (60 years old on average), the blue grape of Patrimonio, located in the far north of Corsica with calcareous soil. Niellucciu is related to Sangiovese.
In short, this is an impressively beautiful red wine. From a small vineyard in the only area in Corsica with a rocky soil of only limestone: AOC Patrimonio. This wine also matures on cement, not on wood, and often for a long time (at least 2 years). Biodynamic wine, unclarified and unfiltered with little to no sulfite. So really a very fascinating, earthy, great wine. A true experience.
