Try something els than Tempranillo
Gamonal is a hell of a red wine. Wine from 100% Prieto Picudo, a local red grape from the area of León in northern Spain. Compared to many standard Tempranillos, this is more exciting with more freshness. Pietro Picudo with 12 months of French and American oak. Lots of class for this price. Spanish wine.

D.O. Tierra de Leon, upcoming wine region
This fairly recent D.O. (2005) is located between the wine regions of Bierzo and Toro, just below the city of Léon. Tierra de Léon unites three smaller wine regions. The vineyards are mainly located on plateaus of about 800m. The alluvial soil is poor. But it does contain minerals and lime.
In the summer it is really hot. But due to the altitude and the fairly northern location within Spain, it also cools down considerably at night. That is precisely what creates those beautiful acids. The winters are also cold. With only 500mm of rain per year, it is relatively dry.
