Clos Galena was the dream of Miguel Perez (1959-2013), pharmacist, oenologist, and professor. His dream: to produce exceptional wines on 11 hectares of organic vineyards. Now, widow Merche Delmau, a strong woman, continues Miguel's dream with her daughter Christina.

The estate is surrounded by forests and is located in the village of El Molar (Catalonia). It primarily grows Garnacha, Cabernet Sauvignon, Merlot, Carignan, and Syrah. Production is low, with only 0.5-1 kg of grapes per vine. Clos Galena follows a traditional production system, resulting in exclusive and elegant wines.

The terroir is characteristic of Priorat. The nitrogen-poor slate with mica, locally called " llicorella ," gives the famous mineral note to Priorat wines. The vineyards are situated between 50 and 500 meters in altitude, with narrow terraces planted with two or three, or even just a single, row of vines.
Priorat, along with Rioja, is the only Spanish wine region with the highest DOQ status: Denominacion d'Origen Qualificada . Galena is the local name for a silvery mineral mined here.
