Zweigelt, Reinfeld, Burgenland, Austria
Description
Zweigelt, Reinfeld, Burgenland . A classic red wine made from the Zweigelt grape by winemaker Martin Reinfeld. Zweigelt is recognizable by its black cherry and plum notes, and this wine certainly has them. It also boasts soft tannins, freshness, and notes of ink and graphite, red berry, and minerality with subtle bitterness. A delicious glass of red wine!

Perswijn review: 4 out of 5 stars. Aroma: pleasant red fruit, blueberries, blackberries. Taste: soft and spicy, sultry, with a touch of tannin.
Zweigelt, Blaufränkisch and Sankt Laurent
Zweigelt is a cross between Blaufränkisch and Sankt Laurent, the two native Austrian red grape varieties. It was bred by Professor Fritz Zweigelt in 1922 in Klosterneuburg near Vienna. It only became truly popular after World War II. Zweigelt is now the most widely planted red grape variety in Austria.
