Description

Anjou Chenin blanc 'En Terrasse', Domaine des Deux Vallées, Loire.

White dry wine from Anjou, France. Wine from Chenin blanc, the most exciting white grape in the Loire. This dry Anjou Blanc wine by winery Domaine des Deux Vallées has a super price-quality.

Beautiful classic Chenin with plenty of ripe pear, almond, with nice tension, minerality and acidity. Furthermore, light honey, round with a long aftertaste. Combines excitement with fun! Just really good wine from Chenin blanc. Top wine. Recommended!

Review Perswijn magazine (14.5/20): Aromas of white fruit, ripe apple, hay, flint, spices, citrus. Taste: filling, juice, round, mild acidity, accessible. The Chenin blanc grapes for this wine are hand-harvested and meticulously selected. The wine matures for 9 months 'sur lie' on stainless steel for extra roundness and substance.

Try the other wines of Domaine des Deux Vallées, such as the beautiful Savennières, Anjou Clos de la Casse and the semi-sweet Côteaux du Layon. Winemakers Philippe and René Socheleau of Domaine des Deux Vallées are affiliated with Terra Vitis. This French quality mark guarantees viticulture without spraying poison and sustainable wine production. But also for good working conditions and an eye for the environment.

It's time for Loire wines

With climate change, a lot is also changing in the wine world. Areas that were previously cool are now really getting warmer. This is an advantage for the fairly northern Loire. The grapes ripen more easily. You don't just see this in Sancerre and Anjou. Muscadet, for example, is now also becoming more and more beautiful. Fun fact: Chenin blanc is also called Droë Steen (dry stone) in South Africa.

Anjou Blanc, interesting Loire wine region

Approximately directly south of Paris lies the wine region of Anjou, in the beautiful Loire Valley. Anjou is divided into 2 sub-areas. Anjou Noir, with an almost black soil of granite and iron. And Anjou Blanc, with a calcareous soil of tuff. Chenin blanc is doing great here!

The Chenin blanc from Deux Vallées comes from that 'white' tuff soil but with slate and schist. As a result, it develops an enormous minerality. Chenin blanc has a superfine acid structure. So you can ripen this white wine for a long time. But it is also beautiful to drink when young!
