Anjou Chenin blanc 'En Terrasse', Loire, France
Description
Anjou Chenin blanc 'En Terrasse', Loire. Dry white wine from Anjou, France. Wine made from Chenin blanc, the most exciting white grape of the Loire. This dry Anjou Blanc wine from winery Domaine des Deux Vallées offers excellent value for money.
Beautiful classic Chenin with plenty of ripe pear, almond, with a lovely tension, minerality, and acidity. Also subtly honeyed, rounded with a long finish. Combines tension with pleasure! Simply really good Chenin blanc wine. Top wine. Highly recommended!
Review Perswijn magazine (14.5/20): Aroma: white fruit, ripe apple, hay, flint, spicy, citrus. Taste: full-bodied, juicy, round, mild acidity, approachable.
The Chenin blanc grapes for this wine are hand-picked and selected. The wine matures for 9 months 'sur lie' in stainless steel for roundness and body.
Also try the other wines from Domaine des Deux Vallées, such as the beautiful Savennières, De Anjou Clos de la Casse and the semi-sweet Côteaux du Layon. Winemakers Philippe and René Socheleau of Domaine des Deux Vallées are members of Terra Vitis. This French quality label guarantees viticulture without chemical spraying and sustainable wine production. But also good working conditions and attention to the environment.

It's time for Loire wines
Climate change is causing many shifts in the wine world. Areas that were previously cool are now getting warmer. For the rather northern Loire, this is an advantage. The grapes ripen more easily. This can be seen not only in Sancerre and Anjou. Muscadet, for example, is also becoming increasingly beautiful. Another fun fact: Chenin blanc is also known as Droë Steen in South Africa.
Anjou Blanc, interesting Loire wine region
Approximately directly below Paris lies the Anjou wine region, in the beautiful Loire Valley. Anjou is divided into 2 sub-regions. Anjou Noir, with an almost black soil of granite and iron. And Anjou Blanc, with a calcareous tuffeau soil. Chenin blanc thrives here!
The Chenin blanc from Deux Vallées comes from that 'white' tuffeau soil but with slate and schist. This allows it to develop enormous minerality. Chenin blanc has a fine acid structure, which means this white wine can be seriously aged. But it's also lovely to drink when young!
