Douro Branco, a very beautiful white wine.
This bone-dry white wine is made from Viosinho (70%), Codega do Larinho (20%), and Gouveio (10%) grapes. Gouveio is known in Spain as Godello . Gouveio gives the wine creaminess and thickness. The Viosinho and Codega add freshness and fruit. An exciting, rich wine with a lovely crisp minerality, well worth discovering . Portugal is one of the most exciting wine-producing countries of the moment.
Wine from the Douro region, famous for its port. The Douro is located in northeastern Portugal, a magnificent wine region! The Portuguese winery Maçanita produces wines at a very high level; try their 100% Gouveio and Malvasia. These are top-notch gastronomic wines! These wines can be found on the menus of top restaurants . In 2022, Maçanita was named Portugal's best winery .
Vinification
For this white wine, the grapes were harvested by hand and pressed whole bunches, including the stems. This allows the juice to flow more easily and also imparts pleasant bitter notes. After a cold maceration with the skins still in place, spontaneous fermentation took place in stainless steel and was aged for six months.
