Rispetto Sauvignon Blanc, Ricci, Piedmont natural wine

Rispetto Sauvignon blanc, Ricci, Colli Tortonesi, Piedmont. A very special Sauvignon, wild and crazy! Due to 20 days of skin contact, this is an 'orange' wine. With a wonderful, complex balance, zest, citrus peel, a hint of orange, and a bizarrely complex finish.

Extremely complex and layered structure and a full and rich mouthfeel. In the finish, a delightful interplay of sweet ripe fruit, honey-like notes, and plenty of freshness at the same time. Plus enormous length. Truly a unique taste experience!

This wine is reminiscent of the extraordinary wines from Gravner and Primosic. But for a fraction of their price and, to be honest, it is less complicated. So actually very drinkable! Unique, juicy, truly original, and a really delicious juice!

Orange wine? This is it!

This is an orange wine, and a real one at that. The color is created because the wine undergoes oxidative fermentation (i.e., in the open air) and with the grape skins included. For quite a long time too, about 20 days.

Due to the oxidation and the grape skins, that orange color appears in the white wine. And so does a bit of tannin. Unusual, and it's also an interesting blend of mostly Sauvignon with 10% Riesling.

The familiar ‘scents’ of Sauvignon, zesty gooseberry and grapefruit, are therefore not present. Instead, you get beautiful aromas of ripe apples and honey.

Unfined and unfiltered natural wine

Like all other wines from Daniele Ricci, this wine is not fined or filtered. So the orange color is also slightly cloudy. No wood was used and sulfites have been added minimally. Because of the oxidative fermentation, you hardly need to use sulfites; the wine is already biologically stable.

Colli Tortonesi now has DOC status

The Colli Tortonesi (hills of Tortona) has recently become a true DOC within Piedmont. And rightly so. The Timorasso (we have that too) wine grape has been brought to great heights here again after it had almost disappeared. Winemaker Daniele Ricci played a leading role in that.
