Description

Meursault Clos de Tavaux Monopole, François Gaunoux. This Meursault ‘Clos de Tavaux’ comes from an enclosed vineyard, surrounded by walls (hence ‘Clos’). This gives the wine its warm, rich character. A seductive, intense bouquet unfolds on the nose. On the palate, it is powerful yet soft.

The terroir consists of chalky, stony soil formations characteristic of the Côte de Beaune. This soil provides Chardonnay with the conditions to develop a rich, full structure, while the wine retains enough freshness to provide balance.

About winemaker Claudine Gaunoux

This estate is one of the best-kept secrets of Burgundy and has been managed by Claudine Gaunoux since the late 1990s.

She works meticulously in the vineyards all year round, from pruning to early detection and addressing potential issues with the vines and grapes. This allows her to harvest only the best grapes, which are fermented and aged in stainless steel tanks.

'Oak is make-up for bad wines' is her motto. Her wines are therefore distinguished by their pure fruit flavors and minerality. Connoisseurs also know that Gaunoux's wines have exceptional aging potential.

The Gaunoux family has been established in the Côte d’Or since the 16th century. The winery has been under the leadership of Claudine Gaunoux, François's daughter, since 2000.
The vineyard covers approximately 10 hectares with plots in the Meursault, Volnay, Pommard, and Beaune appellations.
