The Loire is the longest river in France. It starts in the very south, in the Ardèche, and then flows northwards. Along the river are countless wine regions, particularly in the northern part. This begins with Sancerre, Menetou-Salon, and Pouilly. Further downstream, you'll encounter Touraine and Vouvray, among others. Then Anjou with sub-regions such as Saumur, Chinon, Bourgeuil, Savennières, Coteaux du Layon, Bonnezaux, and finally Muscadet Sèvre et Maine. Near Nantes, the Loire flows into the Atlantic Ocean.
