The Loire is the longest river in France. It originates in the very south, in the Ardèche, and then flows northward. Numerous wine regions lie along the river, particularly in the northern section, starting with Sancerre, Menetou-Salon , and Pouilly . Further downstream, you'll encounter regions such as Touraine and Vouvray . Then comes Anjou , with sub-regions such as Saumur, Chinon, Bourgeuil, Savennières, Coteaux du Layon, Bonnezaux , and finally Muscadet Sèvre et Maine . At Nantes, the Loire flows into the Atlantic Ocean.
