Tissot, le Clos de la Tour du Curon, Jura 2016. Is this the Montrachet of the Jura ? Well, if there is one Chardonnay wine from the Jura that has achieved mythical status in no time, it is this rare le Clos de la Tour Curon .
Authentic, idiosyncratic, rich and very complex. Ripe, full, both round and tight, with delicate minerality and acidity, melon, hazelnut, camomile, chalk, fine bitters.
Two years of maturation in 228l oak barrels (Burgundy barrels), one third of which are new. Perfectly balanced. Really special. The very best restaurants fight over it! Unfortunately, Tissot only makes a few hundred bottles of it.

Clos de la Tour du Curon, a vineyard with mythical status

This white wine comes from a unique vineyard in the south. Planted by Stéphane Tissot himself in 2002. With a great genetic diversity of Chardonnay vines. The planting is very dense: 12,000 vines per hectare. That does not only mean that the vines have to fight for their skin. Everything is also done by hand , there is no room for a tractor! That is why Stéphane Tissot works with a horse.

The vineyard is located right next to a tower: la Tour du Curon north of Arbois. Over the years , Stéphane Tissot has restored the tower beautifully.
Characteristic are the old limestone soils from the Bajocien , from the middle of the Jurassic period (170 million years ago). Ideal for Chardonnay. There is a special atmosphere here. According to winemaker Stéphane Tissot, this vineyard is indeed comparable to the very best lieu-dits of Burgundy in terms of status and class .
