Chassagne-Montrachet 1er Cru Clos St Jean, Borgeot. Pinot noir from the Grand Cru vineyard Clos St. Jean in Chassagne-Montrachet . Yes, they also make red wine here. Borgeot knows how to make a textbook example of top Pinot noir with this wine. Fleshy, solid style, therefore resembling the red wines from Côte de Nuits. Characteristic are cherries, kirsch and cassis. The -organic- wine comes from old vines (>50 years) and matures in foeders (large wooden barrels of 500l or more). Great wine with great length, can last for decades.
