Douro Branco, white wine with a kick

This Douro Branco (branco means white) is made from the wine grapes Viosinho (70%), Codega do Larinho (20%) and Gouveio (10%). That Gouveio is also known in Spain as Godello. Gouveio gives creaminess and thickness to the wine. The Viosinho and Codega provide freshness, minerality and fruit. So this is a panning rich wine with nice crisp, salty minerality. Definitely worth discovering!
And Portugal is one of the most exciting wine countries of the moment.

Douro, more than just port

This wine comes from the Douro region, known for its port. Douro is located in the northeast of Portugal, and is named after the Douro river that flows from Spain (there it is called Duero) to Porto. A magnificent wine region!
The Portuguese winery Maçanita works at a very high level. So try their 100% Gouveio and the Malvasia. Highlights of gastronomic wines! These wines can be found on the menu of top restaurants. In 2022 Maçanita has been named the best winery in Portugal .

For this white wine, the grapes were harvested by hand, and the entire bunch was pressed, so with the stalks. This makes the juice run off more easily and also gives nice bitters. After a cold soak with the skins, spontaneous fermentation followed on stainless steel and a further maturation of 6 months on stainless steel barrels.
