Douro Tinto, Maçanita, fine dry red wine from the Douro (known for the Port). Red wine from Portugal. Mouth full of wine! Lots of taste and smell of blackberries, cherries and violets, pencil shavings. From Touriga nacional (50 year old vines), Sousao (10 years) and 'Old Vineyards', a field blend of all kinds of very old (80+) and unknown grape varieties that are mixed together. Partly matured on wood (old barriques).

All this gives concentration and depth to this Portuguese wine. The grapes are hand-picked, spontaneously fermented and partly matured in wood (12 months), partly in stainless steel. Dry red wine. Portuguese wine. To be precise from the Douro wine region, known for red and white port.

Maçanita, best winemaker in Portugal

The winemakers of Maçanita are ambitious and that has paid off. In 2022 they were named the best winery in Portugal. They make wines in several areas, of which the Douro is the most important. But they also make very special and unique wines in the Azores, we still have a few bottles of that!
