Douro Tinto, Maçanita, Douro, Portugal. Fine dry red wine from the Douro (known for Port). Red wine from Portugal. A mouth full of wine! Lots of flavour and aromas of blackberries, cherries and violets, and pencil shavings. Made from Touriga Nacional (50-year-old vines), Sousao (10 years) and 'Old Vineyards', a field blend of various ancient (80+) and unknown grape varieties growing together. Partially aged in wood (old barriques).

All this gives concentration and depth to this Portuguese wine. The grapes are hand-picked, spontaneously fermented, and partly aged in wood (12 months), partly in stainless steel. Dry red wine. Portuguese wine. To be precise, from the Douro wine region, known for red and white Port.

Maçanita, best winemakers in Portugal

The winemakers at Maçanita are ambitious, and their efforts have paid off. In 2022, they were named the best winery in Portugal. They produce wines in several regions, with the Douro being the most important. But they also make very special and unique wines in the Azores, and we still have a few bottles of those too!
