A delicious aperitif. A real treat with a plate of cod, fries, and salad!

Elbling, ancient grape variety
Elbling is a white grape. It is the oldest wine grape in Europe , planted by the Romans over 2,000 years ago in the Mosel wine region. The name Elbling is derived from the Latin word Alba, meaning white.
Until the Middle Ages, Elbling was the most common grape variety in Germany! But from the 17th century onward, Elbling was increasingly replaced by Riesling and Silvaner. This productive Elbling grape produces a dry, sparkling, and fresh white wine with relatively low alcohol. It's also perfectly suited for making Sekt, a sparkling wine.
Elbling has an acidity comparable to that of Riesling, but is somewhat softer and rounder. It is made into a fresh, neutral wine or sparkling wine. Pure, 100% Elbling is rare . Most production disappears into sparkling wine made from other grapes. This wine from Frieden-Berg is therefore very special!
