Galena, Clos Galena, Priorat , Spain. Bingo! Delicious juice pur sang from Priorat. Dry red wine of Garnacha, Cabernet Sauvignon, Merlot and Cariñena / Samsó . Matured on French and American barriques. Beautiful classic, full and rich and very elegant. Organic wine from winery Clos Galena from Priorat. Top red wine with a lot of quality.

Galena, organic Priorat

Dry red wine from the DOQ Priorat wine region in North-West Spain. This is really a great organic red wine! Second wine from top winery Clos Galena from Priorato. Blend: Garnacha 35%, Cabernet Sauvignon 25%, Merlot 25%, Cariñena 15% (aka Samsó or Carignan). Each grape variety fermented separately on stainless steel. After the malolactic fermentation - malo - the blend goes into barrel (oak barriques).
This wine has matured for 12 months on French and American wood (90/10). And then another 24 months in bottle. Beautiful balance, full and exciting. Clos Galena works organically.

DOQ Priority

Priorat is - with Rioja - the only Spanish wine region with DOQ status: Denominacion d'Origen Qualificada . The other wine regions are only DO, Denominacion d'Origen.
Galena is the local name for a silvery mineral mined in local mines. Llicorella is the name for mica schist, the mineral-rich, nitrogen-poor slate soil containing mica.

This red wine comes with 2 different labels. We normally have the one with the beautiful lady on it.

Wow! Classic and spirited. Beautiful aromas of ripe blackberries, cherries, laurel, fennel, vanilla and Mediterranean herbs. Mouth-filling and firm, with beautiful freshness, ripe tannins and a very long finish. Serve: 15 °C. Drink: now - 2030.

Delicious with
Wild, domestic duck, grilled meat and BBQ, winter and spicy dishes with (reduced) sauces, liver, savoury cheeses.

Interesting
Priorat(o) is, besides Rioja, the only Spanish wine region with the highest DOCa status. It is a wild area where beautiful wines are made. Galena is the mineral that was mined here. Clos Galena regularly scores high in the 90+ at Robert Parker.
