Huxelrebe Auslese, Storr, a gastronomic dessert wine. Outrageously delicious.

Sweet wine from Germany. A beautiful German white dessert wine made from the rare Huxelrebe grape. With a wonderful sweet-sour balance. Aromas of apricot, passion fruit, and peach. An exciting interplay of sweetness and freshness on the palate. From the Storr winery in Rheinhessen. Also worth trying: the slightly sweet Würzer Kabinett from Storr.

Huxelrebe is the grape variety with the Janus face. On the one hand, it can produce large quantities of very uncomplicated wines. But on the other, it can also be the source of highly refined sweet wines, also with enormous aging potential.

Huxelrebe is one of the "newer" grape varieties in the Rheinhessen vineyards. It was created by Georg Scheu from two white grape varieties: Elbling and Courtiller Musqué . However, the vine owes its name to Fritz Huxel , a winemaker from Westhofen (Rheinhessen). Fritz Huxel was a friend of Scheu, also known for Scheurebe .

Huxel was the first winegrower to make extensive attempts to cultivate the new grape variety in the 1950s. In Rheinhessen, the Huxelrebe vineyard currently covers 273 hectares. But that's only 1% of the total vineyard area!

Taste
Super tasty German white dessert wine from Huxelrebe with a very nice sweet-sour balance. Intoxicating aromas of apricot, passion fruit and peach. Full flavour, nice long finish. Serve: 8-10 °C. Drink: now until 2035.

Delicious with
Mature cheeses (also soft and blue), tarte tatin, pastries, ice cream desserts, pineapple, lighter pâtés.

Interesting
Huxelrebe is a cross between (there he is again) Georg Scheu from Gutedel (Chasselas) x Coutillier Musque. Its namesake is Fritz Huxel, who was the first to cultivate it seriously. A difficult grape that requires a lot of knowledge and skill from the winegrower.
