Sant Pere Negre, Valencia, Spain
Sant Pere is a local cooperative from Moixent, a wine village not far from Valencia. The whole village works together. The Romans already made wine here. So the wine tradition is more than 2000 years old.
The Monastrell grape is common here and in neighbouring wine regions such as Yecla and Jumilla. The grape produces robust and full red wines, and is well adapted to high temperatures and drought.
Monastrell is also known in France as Mourvèdre . In France, it is mainly found in the Languedoc and Provence. The famous Provence rosé from Bandol is made from it.
