Sauvignon Blanc, Touraine, Loire
Dry white wine from the Loire, Touraine wine region. Very pure and nice and fresh, at the same time soft. Good, affordable genuine Loire-Sauvignon. Classic with beautiful acidity, tension and white fruits such as grapefruit and green apple. Recommended.
The Loire is the longest river in France. It starts at the very south, in the Ardèche and then flows northwards. There are numerous wine regions along the river, especially in the northern part. That starts with Sancerre, Menetou-Salon and Pouilly. Further downstream you will come across Touraine and Vouvray, among others. Next up: Anjou with sub-areas such as Saumur, Chinon, Bourgeuil, Savennières, Coteaux du Layon, Bonnezaux and finally Muscadet Sèvre et Maine. At Nantes, the Loire flows into the Atlantic Ocean.
Fun fact:
Sauvignon blanc is also called Fumé blanc. And in the Loire they often call him Surin. Sauvignon blanc is not only planted in the Loire in France, but also in Bordeaux, Côtes de Gascogne and Languedoc.
