Rosenthal is a GG vineyard north of the town of Ahrweiler. GG stands for Grosses Gewächs, or Grand Cru. It enjoys a sunny, south-facing location and is medium-steep. This wine is firmer and fuller-bodied than, for example, the Dernauer Spätburgunder from Bertram-Baltes. Yet, the alcohol content is only 11.5%.

Spätburgunder Ahrweiler Rosent ha l , a very fine red wine from Julia Bertram and her husband Benedikt Baltes. This German wine comes from the small, northern Ahr wine region. Despite its northern location, the Ahr is primarily known for red wines.

This red wine stands out with its generous forest fruit, currants, and spice notes. The tannins are beautifully soft. Many consider it one of the finest wines from the Ahr. The Bertram-Baltes winery has been fully organic since 2020.

Great wine from Bertram-Baltes. Full, deep, rich but also fresh. Forest fruit, mushrooms, spicy, mineral, light wood tone, top balance, fine acids and crumbly tannins. Great wine from Grand Cru vineyard (Grosses Gewächs or GG).

Delicious with
Chateaubriand, diamond fillet, red game, poultry, spicy vegetable dishes.

Interesting
The Lage Rosenthal is located near Ahrweiler and is facing south. The soil contains Grauwacke (mineral-rich, weathered sandstone) in the east, loam in the northern upper part and loess in the west. Furthermore, you will find loess clay and slate everywhere. This wine comes from the eastern part, so with Grauwacke and a sub-layer of slate.
