Chardonnay La Mailloche, small vineyard, big wine

La Mailloche is a small old vineyard of compact clay soil (Lias, 170 million years old) on a subsoil of blue marl. This makes the wines richer, big wines with more volume. Also, the clay-limestone terroir of La Mailloche (only 116 ares, facing east) is planted with young and old Chardonnay vines (20 to 74 years old) in the Jura appellation Arbois.

Bettane et Desseauve: The weathered clay from the Lias period, which is the fame of the Jura terroir, produces an uncompromising and crystal clear wine here. With bitters and spicy, vegetal and spicy notes. So without a doubt a white wine for top gastronomy .
Robert Parker: The Arbois Chardonnay la Mailloche has a nutty and spicy nose with a little bitterness on the palate. This tends to be among my favorite Chardonnays chez Tissot. It's austere and serious, with concentration, balance and refreshing minerality.

Domaine A&M Tissot, rich history

The wine estate was founded in 1962 by André and Mireille Tissot, in Montigny-Les-Arsures near Arbois. Today, Stéphane Tissot and his wife Bénédicte manage the winery. The vineyards cover 50 hectares. Organic since 1999 and biodynamic (Demeter certification) since 2004. This healthy and gentle agriculture allows Stéphane Tissot to get the best out of his vines. And to produce many cuvées per plot, which reflect the different terroirs as best as possible.
André and Mireille Tissot started in 1962 with 2 small hectares of vines, which André had inherited from his father. To distinguish himself from his three brothers, also winemakers, André added the first name of his wife Mireille. Perhaps a detail, but it was an important gesture in the 1960s.
In 1989, the son Stéphane had completed his viticulture studies in Beaune. This globetrotter, who spent a lot of time in Australia and North Africa, takes over the wine estate.
He combines his Burgundian education with a perfect understanding of the rich terroir of the Jura. That is why he can use a terroir style in winemaking. This is how Curon, Château-Chalon, Les Bruyères and La Mailloche were born.
Stéphane is constantly looking for ways to let the terroir 'shine' in his wines. This search for authenticity led to biodynamic viticulture. After a long battle with his father, Stéphane succeeded in implementing his philosophy in 1999. That year, the entire wine estate became organic. Five years later, the biodynamic Demeter certification followed. Everything is done to make wines that are as pure as possible.

More information about this delicious juice

Taste
Seductive notes of ripe yellow fruit and rich in spices. Mineral, tension, uplifting, long. Powerful, compact, great wine.

Delicious with
Firm whitefish with sauce high in flavour. Fatty fish such as mackerel, salmon. Salads, Asian cuisine, poultry. Caviar and oysters.

Interesting
Biodynamic wine from a small vineyard facing east. The Lias clay soil is chalky and gives the wine enormous tension and power.
