Württemberg wine region, worth discovering!
The German wine region of Württemberg is located near Stuttgart, so it's quite far south. It's unfortunately not very well-known in the Netherlands yet. But it produces some wonderful wines. The Trollinger grape is truly characteristic of the Württemberg wine region. You won't find it anywhere else in Germany.
Trollinger = Vernatsch = Schiava
The Trollinger grape is also known from Alto Adige, where it's called Vernatsch or Schiava. The German Trollinger is often a bit fruitier but also has that mountain wine character: fine fruit, zest, a touch of white pepper, sleek yet full-bodied. This Trollinger from Zimmerle in Württemberg is a beautiful gourmet wine.
