Green Wine Escolha

Delicious soft fresh summer and terrace wine from North-West Portugal, from the DO Vinho Verde, sub-region Sousa. Vinho Verde means green wine but Vinho Verde is a wine region , not the name of the wine itself.

There are many mainly white grape varieties here and one Vinho Verde wine can be completely different from another. The best known Vinho Verde grapes are Alvarinho (also found in Galicia, Northern Spain), Loureiro, Arinto and Avesso.

This Vinho Verde Escolha is fresh like Sauvignon Blanc but fuller, softer and richer. Super juicy and light. From the Quinta de Linhares winery, which also makes beautiful white mono-varietal wines from typical Portuguese grapes: Loureiro, Azal and Avesso. We have those too!

Quinta de Linhares has 20 ha of vineyards at 250-300m near the village of Penafiel. The sandy loam soil is rich in lime, phosphorus, magnesium and potassium, perfect for healthy grapes.
