Introducing Paul Humbrecht, biodynamic winemaker from Alsace

For years, I've been searching for truly fine Alsace wines. All the big names already have importers, so who makes wines at the same level but is still available? At a trade show, I met a cheerful winemaker: Paul Humbrecht. And wow, what fantastic wines!

Paul Humbrecht? Connoisseurs immediately think of the renowned Zind-Humbrecht winery in Alsace. And yes, they're related. Humbrecht is located in the charming village of Pfaffenheim. I tasted his wines, including Pinot Gris, Riesling, Chasselas, Gewürztraminer (spelled without the umlaut in Alsace), and also a lovely Crémant Extra Brut . And, surprisingly, a really good Edelzwicker (a traditional blend)! Edelzwicker is usually a cheap, cheap wine, but Humbrecht makes a truly excellent one!

Wines that age beautifully

It's remarkable how wines age beautifully. For example, his 2012 Gewürztraminer Marie still stands strong: fresh, full-bodied, fruity, a truly wonderful wine. The 2019 Chasselas is another surprise.

Paul Humbrecht works biodynamically and organically. You can now find his wines in the webshop.
