Galena, biological Priorat

Dry red wine from the DOQ Priorat wine region in northwest Spain. This is truly a superb organic red wine! A second wine from the top winery Clos Galena in Priorat. Blend: Garnacha 35%, Cabernet Sauvignon 25%, Merlot 25%, Cariñena 15% (also known as Samsó or Carignan). Each grape variety is fermented separately in stainless steel. After malolactic fermentation (malo), the blend is aged in oak barriques.
This wine was aged for 12 months in French and American oak (90/10). It then spent another 24 months in the bottle. Beautifully balanced, full-bodied, and exciting. Clos Galena is organically produced.

DOQ Priorat

Priorat is—along with Rioja—the only Spanish wine region with DOQ status: Denomination of Origin Qualified . The other wine regions are only DO, Denomination of Origin.
Galena is the local name for a silvery mineral mined in local areas. Llicorella is the name for mica schist, the mineral-rich, nitrogen-poor schist soil containing mica.

This red wine comes with two different labels. We normally have the one with the beautiful lady on it.
