Description

Anjou Clos de la Casse, in the Loire département. Top French white wine from Chenin blanc from Anjou, Loire. Rich and full-bodied, fine freshness, mineral and spicy, anise, fennel, apple, pear, long. Very nice wine for this money. Fermented and aged in wood. From lightly dried grapes. Dry white organic wine. If you want an even higher level, choose the Savenières of Les Deux Vallées.

Anjou Clos de la Casse, Chenin, Loire

Clos de la Casse is a genius dry French white wine made from lightly dried Chenin blanc grapes from 1 single vineyard. This gives this wine more concentration and roundness. This wine comes from the middle of the great Loire wine region. More specifically, this wine comes from the Anjou wine region, and within it from Côteaux du Layon. The winery is Domaine des Deux Vallées.

What class and finesse! Rich, full-bodied, creamy and at the same time fresh and mineral. Perfect balance with the wood, vanilla and smoke tones. Anise, fennel, you keep sniffing! Fermented and aged in wood. Wonderful now and in 10 years too. Top wine.

  • Serving: 11 °C
  • Drinking: now until 2029+

Chenin blanc can be very dry as well as full-round. It is therefore a versatile grape variety, just like Riesling. Beautiful sweet dessert wine from Chenin blanc is also made. Such as Côteaux du Layon, Quarts de Chaumes and Bonnezaux.

These are all separate appellations (AOCs or AOPs) that lie within the larger wine region of Anjou. Of Domaine des Deux Vallées we also have the semi-sweet Côteaux du Layon, beautiful Savenières and 'regular' Anjou blanc.
