Clos Galena was the dream of Miguel Perez (1959-2013), pharmacist, oenologist and professor. His dream: to make exceptional wines on 11 hectares of organic vineyard. Now widow Merche Delmau continues to work on Miguel's dream as strong woman with her daughter Christina. The estate is surrounded by forests and is located in the village of El Molar (Catalunya). Planted are mainly Garnacha, Cabernet Sauvignon, Merlot, Carignan and Syrah. Production is low, only 0.5-1 kg of grapes per vine. Clos Galena works according to a traditional production system. With exclusive and elegant wines as a result.

The terroir is the hallmark of Priorat

The low-nitrogen slate with mica, local name "llicorella", gives the famous mineral touch to the Priorat wines. The vineyards are located between 50 and 500 m altitude, with narrow terraces on which there are two or three, or even just a single row of vines. Priorat is with Rioja the only Spanish wine region with the highest DOQ status: Denominacion d'Origen Qualificada. Galena is the local name for a silvery mineral that was mined here in the mines.
