Galena, organic Priorat

Dry red wine from the DOQ Priorat wine region in northwestern Spain. This is a really great organic red wine! Second wine from top winery Clos Galena from Priorato. Blend: Garnacha 35%, Cabernet Sauvignon 25%, Merlot 25%, Cariñena 15% (aka Samsó or Carignan). Each grape variety ferments separately on stainless steel. After malolactic fermentation - malo - the blend goes into barrels (oak barriques).
This wine has been aged for 12 months in French and American wood (90/10). And then another 24 months in the bottle. Beautiful balance, full and exciting. Clos Galena works organically.

DOQ Priorat

Priorat is - with Rioja - the only Spanish wine region with the DOQ status: Denominacion d'Origen Qualificada. The other wine regions are only DO, Denominacion d'Origen. Galena is the local name for a silvery mineral that was mined in local mines. Llicorella is the name for micaschist, the mineral-rich, nitrogen-poor shale soil with mica.

This red wine comes with 2 different labels. We normally have the one with the beautiful lady on it.
