Huxelrebe Auslese, Storr, gourmet dessert wine. Outrageously delicious.
Sweet wine from Germany. Beautiful German white dessert wine from the rare wine grape Huxelrebe. With a very nice sweet-sour balance. Aromas of apricot, maracuja and peach. Exciting play of sweetness and freshness in the mouth. From winery Storr from Rheinhessen. Also worth a visit: the slightly sweet Würzer Kabinett from Storr. Huxelrebe is the grape variety with the Janus head. On the one hand, it can produce large quantities of very uncomplicated wines. But on the other hand, it can also be the source of very refined sweet wines. Also with enormous storage potential.
Huxelrebe is one of the "newer" grape varieties in the Rheinhessen vineyards. It is a creation by Georg Scheu from two white grape varieties: Elbling and Courtiller Musqué. But the vine owes its name to Fritz Huxel, a winemaker from Westhofen (Rheinhessen). Fritz Huxel was a friend of Scheu, also known from the Scheurebe grape.
Huxel was the first winegrower to make extensive attempts to grow the new grape variety in the 50s. In Rheinhessen, the vineyard area of the Huxelrebe is currently 273 hectares. But only 1% of the total vineyard area!
