Pinot Noir Ried Satzen, Malat, Kremstal . Classic Pinot Noir, but from Austria: Kremstal . Red wine with ripe red and black fruit, a light smoky note, refined oak use, and ripe tannins. Malat not only pairs beautifully with Veltliner and Riesling; his Pinot Noirs are also excellent. Also try his Pinot Noir Satzen Reserve.

Pinot Noir Satzen, the queen of Malat

For Malat, Pinot Noir Ried Satzen is his red queen. A wine that only improves with age. So those who are patient can count themselves lucky! The Ried (vineyard) Satzen is predestined for Burgundian wines. Over the millennia, the strong influence of the Danube River has created a soil that is now very rich in humus, thanks to the fact that the alluvial plain here has repeatedly accumulated sediment during floods.

The highly fertile topsoil is in turn formed by a layer of Danube gravel, which is very calcareous, saline, and especially permeable. These are ideal conditions for sensitive Burgundian varieties like Pinot Noir, which, due to their thin skins, would tend to rot on denser soils.
