Jurançon: a wine region that will surprise you

In the shadow of the Pyrenees, close to the charming city of Pau in the south of France, lies one of the most underrated wine regions in the country: Jurançon. Only a few wine lovers know this wine region, but once you have been introduced to it, you will be hooked.

Indigenous grape varieties

Jurançon is an exclusively white wine region, dominated by two indigenous grape varieties: Gros Manseng and Petit Manseng. Gros Manseng produces fresh, dry wines with notes of lemon and tropical fruit. Petit Manseng is richer by nature and is often used for the sweet style — with low yields and a late harvest where the grapes shrivel on the vine (passerillage).

Dry or sweet?

Jurançon exists in two styles: Jurançon sec (dry) and Jurançon (sweet). The dry version is surprisingly versatile with meals, such as fish, goat cheese, or Asian dishes. The sweet version is intense but never heavy, with notes of honey, mango, and ginger, and a refreshing acidity that keeps everything in balance.

Camin Larredya: the benchmark for great Jurançon wine

In our wine assortment, Camin Larredya by winemaker Jean-Marc Gruss is the absolute benchmark for Jurançon. With a biodynamic approach, low yields, and deep knowledge of the terroir, he crafts wines that rank among the absolute best of the appellation; full of expression, minerality, and character. Whether it is his dry ‘Au Capceu’ or the sweet ‘La Part Davant’, every bottle is an experience.
